Michael Beutler began his research with RedHero in November 2018. In this video Beutler shares his first impressions and thoughts by visiting the Naran Tuul Market (also know as Black Market) in Ulaanbaatar, intrigued by the traditional materials and crafts of the country. The observation of small details of the materials, understanding their processing and production method are part of a research practice that Beutler always tries to apply to his work. The video continues by showing a visit to a factory of felt and wool, long-established materials of the Mongolian culture and widely used in the making of Mongolian “ger” (yurts), traditional family homes of nomadic families.
