Lakshmi Boojoo is an economist based in Ulaanbaatar. Having been under the influence of the Soviet Union since 1921 and becoming independent since 1990, the Mongolian economy has achieved market freedom only in the last 30 years. According to Lakshmi Boojoo, however, the most intense development of the market did not begin until the 2000s, when interest in Mongolia’s mines also began to grow. From that time on, the economy began to turn dizzy, and the development of the country began to grow exponentially.
